Longtime Coach Mike McArthur has been an inspiration
to all Excel wrestlers and a tremendous asset
to the program. Coach Mac has worked with
Steve Knight from the very beginning, including
the conceptual development of Excel in the
early years.
Mike's presence has been monumental at many
Excel Year Round Training Program practices,
as well as at the Excel summer camps for the
past 12 years.
Together, McArthur and Knight coached the
senior level Team Excel wrestlers up until
the 2004 US Olympic trials. They are pictured
above at the 1999 US National Freestyle Championships,
where Team Excel won the second place team
title.
- Information:
The night will begin with
a social hour at 6pm and dinner following at
7pm.
The Excel Coaching staff will honor several
outstanding individuals
- Junior level Excel wrestlers Connor Medbery and Connor King.
- High School All Americans Tyler Graff (Colorado Excel), Jared Hatley (Wyoming Excel) and Evan Knight (Iowa Excel)
- Recognition of the "Rocky Mountain Top 24," made up of a coaches selection of the most outstanding wrestlers in Colorado and Wyoming based on athletic achievement, scholar and character.

Camp
Information: The Excel Christmas Break camp will focus specifically on takedown wrestling and leg riding. Technique areas: New single leg finishes, front headlock finishes, low heel shots and finishes, duckunders, drags, short offense, defensive scoring opportunities, defensive scrambling techniques , and more. Clinician will also speak about life, motivation for the sport and specifically what it takes to step up to the next level of achievement!

- Featured
Clinicians:
Mike McArthur will also be the featured
clinician for the 12th Annual Excel Winter
Break Camp. He was on the staff of the 1996
Olympic Team. He is a former assistant coach
at Oklahoma State University and 3x NCAA All
American for the University of Minnesota.
He went on to compete internationally representing
the United States in the World Cup, not to
mention many other tournaments throughout
the world.
Ramico Blackmon competed for Team Excel winning the US National Freestyle Championships. He is now vying for a position on the 2008 US Olympic Team. He has trained at the US Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs for many years. He's represented the US many times in international competition and has had great success. He's coached for the Team Excel Junior Olympic Program and summer camps in the past and we're honored to have him as a guest clinician at this year's Excel Winter Training Camp.
Tommy
Clum was a 2X Big Ten Champ and 2X
All American for the University of Wisconsin.
He also competed internationally earning a
Silver and a Bronze medal for the United States
in the 2004 and 2005 Pan Am Championships. He is a member of the coaching staff for the University of Wisconsin and has also been coaching with Excel Wrestling for the past two years.
Steve
Knight has been a member of the US
National Teams Coaching Staff for the past
10, He has coached in two World Championships,
served on the US Olympic Staff, coached the 2004
US Pan American team and the 2005 US World
Cup team, and is the Head Coach for Team Excel. He currently runs the Iowa Team Excel Year Round Junior Olympic Program.
